Parked Planes

Someone left a comment on an earlier post asking for the pictures that SXM is famous for - the beach by the airport runway, with a plane directly overhead. I have never gotten a good one there but that is such a favored photo subject that there is a Flickr group dedicated to SXM airport shots! Check it out for some amazing pictures.

Instead, here is a picture (taken from the car) of a plane parked at the airport - I got a kick out of the windshield sun shade.

Cupecoy and a Plane

I took this a few weeks ago while in Cupecoy. In the background you can see ruined roofs of Mullet Bay and a plane on its landing approach. The colors were strange that day due to the haze - we have had intermittent hazy days for the past month, first from a large volcanic ash cloud over Montserrat and next from smoke in the atmosphere caused by fires in Venezuela. Strange days.
