It is fairly common here to sit and wait while the drivers of two cars exchange a brief word. It gave me time to get my camera out :)

The beach bar in the background is the Sunset Beach Bar, where intrepid photographers buy drinks and wait for their chance to get pictures of large planes landing, or of women drinking for free.

One can always tell what the whether or not is has been rainy recently by this hillside, which turns gorgeously green during the rainy season.

Maneuvering

Sure, some of the roads in St. Maarten can be treacherous, and even trying to get out of some driveways is difficult. After a few years of it, however, a St. Maarten driver can get their car in and out of most places.

This bar on Illidge Road has had a few different names in the years I have been passing by it, but I like this one, and the paint job, the best. I also have to point out the nest of water meters in front, this kind of installation has been catching my eye for a while.

Be Attentive

I always enjoy catching sight of these roadside reminders. They usually display a short, somewhat paternalistic, reminder. "Be Attentive" is not a bad sentiment, especially when driving, though the format in which the message is delivered takes attention away from the road...

Really? And is There a Jacuzzi in There?

You know, until I see this thing actually driving around(this was kind of parked), I refuse to believe that it is a working vehicle. Especially on this island, where the roads are narrow.

Actually, I bet if I go out looking I will find it tonight! And the Jacuzzi will be filled with champagne! And people swimming in it, which would be a shame because then it would be undrinkable, to my mind. I am not thinking clearly about this am I. Anyway.
